Gary Brown joined Napoli Management Group as Vice President, Talent Development and as a Talent Representative in March of 2013. Considered one of the most respected leaders in local television news and known as an innovator, strategist, mentor and coach for many in our industry, Gary has a keen eye for spotting talent. He has helped guide the careers of both talent and management in television stations across the country.
Most recently, Gary served as the Vice President of News, Marketing and Web Content for Newport Television Stations. He began his career as an intern at age 16 in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Already a successful producer at the age of 25, Brown was named News Director at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio making him at the time, one of the youngest News Directors in the country.
Gary quickly moved through the ranks of broadcast journalism holding news director positions at WUPW in Toledo, WPRI/WNAC in Providence and WFSB in Hartford. He then became News Director for KGTV in San Diego, successfully turning that station's news operation around into a rating's leader.
Newport Television recruited Gary to serve as its Vice President of News, for that group's 22 stations. In addition he served as the acting General Manager of KGPE, the CBS affiliate in Fresno, CA.
While at Newport, Gary was instrumental in the reorganization of the group's news operations and rating's success. His knowledge and insight in station operations at the corporate level will benefit all Napoli clients. Brown's deep connections with news managers across the country and with corporate leaders at many of the top broadcasting groups, gives him unique access to the decision makers in local television.
